Windstar Cruises has initiated a substantial project to modernise its fleet, highlighting its commitment to enhancing guest experience.

The refurbishment plan covers three iconic yachts and will bring notable changes, ensuring the fleet remains at the cutting edge of luxury cruise offerings.

Major Overhaul of the Fleet Begins

The renowned cruise line, Windstar Cruises, has embarked on an ambitious refurbishment programme. This multi-million-pound revamp aims to redesign and update its cherished yachts, Wind Star, Wind Spirit, and Wind Surf. The first phase of this extensive overhaul has commenced, with a focus on enhancing public areas and adding innovative technology to improve the overall guest experience.

In an era where travellers demand the pinnacle of luxury and comfort, Windstar’s initiative is timely. The company is investing significantly to ensure their fleet not only meets but exceeds passenger expectations. With new and expanded amenities on the horizon, the transformation promises to provide a revitalised sense of elegance and sophistication.

Notably, the Wind Star launched its initial phase of redevelopment, which will be followed by comprehensive improvements to staterooms and dining venues. The Wind Surf, meanwhile, will undergo phased renovations in 2024 and 2026, while the Wind Spirit is set to complete its upgrades by 2025.

    Innovative Design and Enhanced Features

At the heart of the refurbishment is a complete redesign of public spaces, which includes the introduction of new layouts, contemporary furniture, and sophisticated lighting. Much attention is being paid to detail, with custom art installations and new wall and floor coverings enhancing the aesthetic appeal.

The yachts will feature fully refurbished guest staterooms, Premium Suites, and Owner’s Suites, all equipped with new furnishings and interactive televisions. This transformation is crafted to meet the multifaceted needs of modern guests, offering spaces designed for relaxation and social interaction.

Another key aspect of the upgrade is the renovation of the reception area, which is set to become more spacious with additional seating and retail space. Significant improvements are also planned for the lounge, aiming to create a warm, living room-like atmosphere where guests can gather and connect.

    Reimagining On-board Amenities

The refurbishment extends to the on-board spa and gym, which will boast new finishes, invigorating colour palettes, and up-to-date equipment. Such enhancements are designed to enrich the wellness experiences available to passengers, aligning with the cruise line’s commitment to holistic luxury.

Modifications aren’t limited to interior spaces; the pool deck will see substantial changes. The removal of the skylight has paved the way for a new pool and jacuzzi, along with an extended pool bar, creating an inviting environment for relaxation under the sun.

Windstar’s Vice President of Hotel Operations and Product Development, Stijn Creupelandt, emphasised that this grand endeavour is about more than just luxury. He stated, “This multi-year, multi-million-dollar initiative is all about providing guests with updated spaces that inspire relaxation, foster connection and offer multifunctional needs of an intimate-sized sailing yacht.”

    Strategic Vision for Luxury Travel

The strategic vision behind this refurbishment underscores Windstar Cruises’ dedication to leading the luxury travel sector. By investing in these comprehensive renovations, Windstar is positioning itself at the forefront of innovation in cruise experiences.

The visionary plan is not only a response to current trends but sets a precedent for the industry. By prioritising both aesthetic and functional enhancements, the company aims to redefine what guests can expect from a luxury yachting holiday.

    Phased Implementation Rollout

The implementation of the refurbishment is structured in phases, ensuring minimal disruption to operations while swiftly delivering enhancements. By utilising this phased approach, Windstar maintains the balance between continuous service and necessary upgrades.

The strategic scheduling allows for a seamless integration of new elements, guaranteeing that passengers continue to receive the highest standards of service. The phased completion of Wind Surf’s renovation and the prompt rollout of Wind Spirit’s upgrades demonstrate the careful planning involved.
