Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, the UK-based airline and tour operator, has said that it has put an expanded Winter Sun programme on sale from Newcastle Airport for Winter 23/24 – including a new winter route to Malta.

In addition, the companies’ Ski and City Winter 23/24 destinations will also go on sale from Newcastle Airport starting next month.

With 12 Winter Sun destinations going on sale from Newcastle Airport, the programme includes a brand-new route from the base for Winter 23/24 to Malta – with a weekly service. Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are offering more choice to Antalya from Newcastle Airport too, with up to three weekly services departing in Winter 23/24.

The companies also offer services to the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, with up to 22 weekly departures to the Canaries from Newcastle Airport next winter. In addition, services will operate to Spain (Malaga and Alicante), Majorca (Palma), Portugal (Faro and Madeira) and Cyprus (Paphos).

In total, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are offering nearly 50 flights per week to these destinations from Newcastle Airport with multiple services available during winter from early-November through to the end of April.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: ‘We are seeing strong demand from customers in the North East wanting to escape the long British winter by booking their Winter 23/24 holiday nice and early. In response to this demand, we are stepping in by putting our Winter Sun programme on sale from Newcastle Airport. We are pleased to be launching a brand-new route to Malta from the base for Winter 23/24, on top of offering a fantastic selection of other popular Winter Sun destinations. With more customers than ever wanting to give themselves something to look forward to next year, we have no doubt that these hotspots will be extremely popular with both customers and independent travel agents in the region. The unrivalled programme on sale from Newcastle Airport means customers and independent travel agents need look no further when it comes to booking or travelling on their well-deserved holidays next year. The strong demand we are seeing for Winter Sun means we are looking ahead with real confidence and look forward to revealing even more details of our exciting Winter 23/24 programme from Newcastle Airport very soon.’

Nick Jones, Chief Executive of Newcastle International Airport said: ‘Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ increased winter 2023/24 schedule demonstrates the airline’s ongoing commitment to the region and confidence in the North East’s largest airport. This announcement recognises strong demand for travel in the region and the extension of Jet2.com’s Malta service into November and March.’
