Cruise specialists express enthusiasm for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ significant expansion plan. Across its three brands, the company will introduce eight new ships, significantly increasing passenger capacity.

The expansion will see the introduction of 25,000 additional berths, with ships built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard. Scheduled delivery is from 2026 to 2036, marking a substantial growth phase.

Norwegian Cruise Line is set to expand its fleet with four new ships, each accommodating nearly 5,000 passengers. These vessels are expected to arrive in 2030, 2032, 2034, and 2036, subject to necessary financing being secured.

These new ships will draw on the best elements of the Prima and Breakaway classes to deliver a world-class cruising experience, as highlighted by NCLH President Harry Sommer. Although exact deployment details are unconfirmed, warm-weather locales such as the Mediterranean and Caribbean are among the expected destinations.

Oceania Cruises will enhance its offerings with two new 1,450-passenger ships arriving in 2027 and 2029, while Regent Seven Seas Cruises will introduce two vessels with a capacity of 850 passengers in 2026 and 2029.

Oceania is expected to amplify its renowned culinary experiences, and Regent will focus on providing enhanced space, delivering 16% more room than existing vessels. These enhancements underline the brands’ dedication to luxury and specialised cruise experiences.

Phil Nuttall, CEO of Travel Village Group, praises NCLH’s strategic move as a substantial boost for the cruise and travel sectors.

Iglu Cruise’s Dave Mills foresees the new ships will attract a broad spectrum of customers, further solidifying the brands’ trailblazing reputation within the industry.

The fleet expansion underscores a significant investment, underlying the confidence in sustained cruise industry growth. It reflects a long-term commitment to innovation and enhancements.

By 2036, NCLH expects to have all planned vessels operational, significantly boosting capacity and offering new experiences across its brands.
