In March 2024, twenty-one travel industry professionals embarked on a remarkable journey through Colombia, successfully raising over £31,000 for Planeterra and Abta LifeLine.

This initiative, known as ‘G Trek for Good’, aims to demonstrate the power of travel in supporting charitable causes and advocating for the betterment of communities.

G Trek for Good’s third installment took participants through the rigorous terrain of Colombia’s jungle, a challenging expedition to the ancient Lost City. Developed by G Adventures, this initiative follows previous treks in Morocco and Tanzania, and highlights the continued commitment to charitable activities. The treks have collectively raised over £130,000 since inception.

The intensely physical nature of the trek demanded participants to step out of their comfort zones, fostering both personal growth and a sense of shared purpose. Achieving such a feat, despite the gruelling conditions, underscores the remarkable collective spirit and determination of all involved.

Such endeavours leave an indelible mark on both participants and beneficiaries, continuously fostering a narrative of support and industry resilience.

Young further emphasised that the treks epitomise travel as a force for good, creating lasting memories and impactful moments. Such adventures reinforce industry solidarity, underpinning the vital support structures necessary in travel.

Planning is already underway for the 2025 event, with registration open for interested participants. This continuity ensures the sustained momentum of support for the communities and individuals who benefit from these charitable initiatives.

Such ongoing efforts underscore the travel industry’s dedication to being a catalyst for positive change, using its platform to drive significant social impact.

G Trek for Good stands as a testament to the power of collective action within the travel industry, bridging communities and providing essential support to those in need. This initiative not only raises significant funds but also embodies a spirit of shared purpose and commitment to impactful change.
