Stuart Milan has made history as the first male to join the AWTE board.

    • His appointment aims to enhance understanding of women’s challenges in the travel industry.
    • Milan will organise activities to encourage discussions on gender issues.
    • AWTE is focused on inclusivity and bridging gender gaps in the industry.
    • Milan is committed to advocating for gender equity policies and practices.

Stuart Milan has marked a significant milestone by becoming the first male member appointed to the Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) board. This development is aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges women face within the travel sector. Milan’s role is pivotal as the industry seeks to embrace diverse perspectives and address gender-related concerns.

Milan is set to spearhead events and activities that promote dialogue about gender issues, contributing to the AWTE’s mission to create an equitable industry environment. He will be involved in, among other initiatives, setting up mentorship programmes and organising workshops designed to tackle these vital issues head-on.

The AWTE chair, Michelle Laverick, emphasised the importance of Milan’s appointment. “We’re delighted to welcome Stuart to the board, as we continue to foster an inclusive and equitable travel industry by bridging the gender gap and championing the unique challenges faced by women in the workplace.” These efforts reflect a broader push for diversity not just within organisations but across the wider travel industry landscape.

Milan echoed this forward-thinking sentiment, stating, “I am absolutely committed to gaining insights into the daily challenges women face and understanding their perspectives.” His focus will be on ensuring that women’s experiences and feedback are heard and valued, advocating for policies that promote gender equity across the travel sector.
