Play It Forward is prompting travel professionals to engage with its initiatives firsthand by participating in the Victoria Falls Marathon. The charity aims to raise £15,000 through this unique experience.

    • The marathon provides an opportunity for participants to witness the impactful projects Play It Forward supports in Zambia.
    • Participants are encouraged to witness firsthand the charity’s educational and health initiatives within the communities they aid.
    • The fund-raising effort includes a goal for each runner to contribute at least £500, benefiting ongoing projects in Zambia.
    • The adventure also extends beyond running, with activities such as whitewater rafting and gorge swinging on offer.

Play It Forward is extending an invitation to travel professionals to join its efforts in Zambia by running the Victoria Falls Marathon. This event not only aims to raise significant funds for the charity’s educational and health projects but also offers participants a direct view of the positive impacts of their contributions in the local communities.

The marathon, scheduled from 1-7 July 2025, invites a total of 30 participants to not only run but also explore the projects supported by Play It Forward. This initiative seeks to combine the thrill of participating in a renowned marathon with the rewarding experience of witnessing charitable activities firsthand in Zambia.

Founder Olly Brendon believes that experiencing the projects in person is the most effective method of engagement. Thus, the charity has coordinated this event to intertwine the marathon experience with direct exposure to the communities they support. Participants are given the opportunity to tailor their itineraries, ensuring they connect with the specific projects they find most compelling.

Brendon reports initial success with seven or eight participants already signed up soon after the launch. He stated, “I’m happy for anyone to sign up – anyone interested in running and charity,” highlighting the inclusivity and broad appeal of the event. The initiative is designed as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience’, offering adventure enthusiasts not only the chance to run but to partake in various activities like whitewater rafting.

For those interested in engaging in this philanthropic journey, the marathon route promises breathtaking vistas as it starts in Victoria Falls town and crosses the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge over the Zambezi River. This setting, known as the ‘adventure capital of the world’, further enriches the experience for participants.

This marathon opportunity not only supports a noble cause but also promises unforgettable experiences set in one of the world’s most iconic locations.
