Uber is expanding its travel services into safaris in South Africa.

    • Day trips will be available from Cape Town during high tourist season.
    • Uber Safari vehicles will take consumers to Aquila Private Game Reserve.
    • The offer includes breakfast, lunch, and a game drive to see the big five.
    • This initiative combines convenience with wildlife conservation support.

Uber is set to transform the safari experience in South Africa by introducing its new ‘hail a safari’ service. In an effort to diversify its travel offerings and attract a wider audience, Uber is now venturing into exotic wildlife tourism. This forward-thinking move is part of the company’s ‘Go Anywhere’ travel series and promises to attract both locals and tourists eager for a unique adventure.

Day trips from Cape Town will be accessible throughout the country’s high tourism season, offering a convenient escape into nature. Travellers can now enjoy the beauty of South Africa’s wildlife with the ease and accessibility that Uber is known for. This new service not only caters to tourists but also provides locals the opportunity to explore their own country’s rich natural heritage.

The Uber Safari experience will transport passengers to the renowned Aquila Private Game Reserve. Located a short drive from Cape Town, the reserve is famed for its conservation efforts and rich biodiversity. Passengers can look forward to a comprehensive safari experience that includes breakfast, lunch, and a nearly three-hour game drive, providing ample time to observe the iconic big five animals in their natural habitat.

The planned availability of Uber Safari rides is strategic, with travel options scheduled every Friday and Saturday until February 1. This consistent scheduling is designed to maximise participant engagement during peak tourist periods. The flat rate of $200 accommodates up to four passengers, making it a competitive and appealing option for families and small groups seeking to share the experience.

Johan van Schalkwyk, Aquilla Collection’s commercial officer, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: “We’re excited to partner with Uber to extend our bucket list wildlife experiences to their customers. Uber Safari allows folks to book and enjoy an unforgettable day at Aquila, where they’ll get to experience the ‘Big 5’ in an easy and luxurious way.” This initiative not only aims to offer memorable experiences but also supports ongoing conservation efforts vital for preserving South Africa’s ecological diversity.

The partnership between Uber and Aquila Game Reserve represents a significant step towards integrating modern convenience with sustainable wildlife tourism.
