    Vertical Travel Group Unifies Homeworking Brands for Enhanced Clarity

    The Vertical Travel Group is set to merge its homeworking brands into a single legal entity, aiming to present a unified business image to suppliers. This strategic move is expected to clarify the scale of operations.

    Strategic Vision of Vertical Travel Group

    The Vertical Travel Group has announced a significant strategic initiative to consolidate its homeworking brands under one legal entity. This decision aims to provide a clearer and more transparent business scale to suppliers. According to Peter Healey, the group’s Chief Executive, integrating all company divisions into the unified Vertical Travel Group brand will simplify how suppliers view the business, although agents will still have the flexibility to use their personal or corporate branding. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen supplier relations.

    Impact on Existing Brands

    As part of this strategic overhaul, some brands such as Your Holiday Booking and Holiday Elite will be phased out. Meanwhile, the presence of brands like Luxury Worldwide, Instant Holidays, and Instant Breaks will be sustained online. Healey points out that the restructuring is primarily aimed at consolidating sales figures for a comprehensive view of the company’s performance. The transition will not affect homeworkers’ existing trade names, ensuring minimal disruption to their operations. The company is keen on maintaining the identity and autonomy of its agents while streamlining its external relations.

    Supplier Relations and Business Clarity

    Peter Healey elaborated that merging the legal entities will significantly enhance transparency with suppliers, who will be able to track aggregated sales effectively. While individual agents may not see a direct impact on their day-to-day business, the group’s collective position will be clearer. This is particularly relevant in partnerships with major industry players like Disney, where sales are currently scattered across multiple ABTA numbers. In future, this consolidation will allow for a more cohesive presentation of business volume to suppliers.

    Timeline for Transition and Future Conferences

    The legally binding changes are scheduled to be completed before April 2025, with brand transitions unfolding over a longer timeframe. The announcement was made during the group’s recent conference in Torremolinos, Spain, attended by around 100 delegates, including 80 agents and representatives from suppliers such as Jet2holidays and Gold Medal. The Vertical Travel Group anticipates that the simplification of its legal structure will encourage business growth, projecting an increase in homeworkers from 220 to 250 by next spring. The conference served as a platform for discussing the intricacies of this transition and future growth opportunities.

    Market Performance and Growth Indicators

    Sales for the current year have reportedly increased by approximately 17% compared to the previous year, despite a dip in August. September saw a notable recovery, contributing to this growth. Peter Healey attributes the increase in part to new homeworkers joining the company, as well as experienced agents resuming their business activities. He emphasized that the company’s strategic actions aim to propel continuous growth and expand market presence.

    Challenges and Opportunities

    Although there has been positive growth, some challenges persist. Healey addressed the issue of cancellation rates, which stand at 8%. This is primarily driven by the low deposits that major operators offer, leading to a higher incidence of bookings not being fulfilled. The company is looking at strategies to manage these cancellation rates and optimise booking confirmations. Addressing these challenges, Vertical Travel Group remains committed to maintaining a robust growth trajectory.

    Future Plans and Predictions

    Looking forward, the Vertical Travel Group has scheduled its 2025 Conference to take place at the Anemos Luxury Grand Resort in Crete. This event is expected to host a multitude of discussions on future strategies and plans. The company is optimistic about the upcoming changes and potential growth, anticipating an enthusiastic response from both agents and suppliers. The strategic mergers and legal restructuring are set to enhance business operations and supplier relationships, contributing to a promising horizon for the group.
